"We tried this place over the holiday. When we called to make a reservation we explained he was an older dog around 65lbs and his response was no problem. The dog door was clearly meant for smaller dogs. Being a taller older dog, and he couldn't get through their dog door. He was supposed to walk him, but the guy said he turned around at him and showed teeth. I just think he didn't want to walk him He didn't even give our dog the medications he was suppose to give him. He was also very filthy and dirty. I don't think our dog moved for 3 days in his kennel. There are much better places around Sioux Falls to take your dog."
We have used many kennels in the past 13 years. Hidden Paradise Kennels was a treasure to find when we recently moved. The kennels are clean and roomy and allowed our pooch to go outside when he wanted to. The owner was very friendly and seemed to geniunely care about our concerns with leaving our beloved pet with him for the first time. He took the time to talk to us and show us where our dog would be staying. If you are looking for a kennel that cares and that you can feel safe leaving your pet Hidden Paradise Kennels is the perfect choice.
Very pleased. Won't bring my dog anywhere else!
I am the owner of HPK. Andrew and Gladys Hoerner brought Buddy(14 YO Siberian Husky(For a large dog=96yo)) in at the last moment before Thanksgiving. Buddy smelled of filth and cigarettes. That weekend, I had 2 Alaskan Malamutes and a younger male Siberian Husky. Each dog is much larger than Buddy and all were able to go in and out the dog door just fine. When I was going to take Buddy outside on a leash, he turned his head and showed his teeth as to nip/bite me. He was in a strange place, nervous and very feeble. I understand that he wanted to be left alone and told me that by nipping at me. When I came in the next morning, Buddy was laying in the doorway. He had pooped and layed in it. Buddy didn't eat, wouldn't take all of his pills(I am NOT going to force open a dog's mouth and force him to eat it) that I put in pill pockets for him. I can't make him eat. I guess I shouldn't have told Gladys and Andrew about their dog. When I cleaned Buddy's area he moved-but not much. I keep my kennel runs very clean(see other comments). Buddy was in the same condition when they picked him up as when the dropped him off. I get a LOT of referrals from grooming parlors because I don't groom dogs here(no need to wash the "filthy & dirty" dogs, because I keep my place clean!). I am very open and honest. If it happens here, it probably happens other places too. I just tell you about it. I welcome people come visit any time during the week.
Since I can only leave one review, I will try to address all of the concerns from customers from the most current. I am the owner of Hidden Paradise Kennels:
Boarded our dog here for one night while traveling. The owner was great and took him on short notice on a holiday weekend. The kennel was clean and our dog was well taken care of.
We have been bringing our beagle, Billy to Hidden Paradise Kennels for a little over a year now. Curt, the owner is always friendly, flexible and accommodating. He has taken Billy on late notice and over the holidays. The facilities are clean and we are thankful that he gets lots of play time. We always feel at ease knowing Billy is well cared for. Definitely recommend to everyone!
I have no idea who Christine Bofenkamp is. I have no record of her or her dog in my computer. When I tried to contact her via Facebook(my only way to find her), she wrote back about my place "on the corner" and then blocked me. My neighbor, on the corner, trains dog and boards 8-10 dogs on occasion. I have had customers looking for me, stop there by mistake. NOBODY has ever complained about the smell/cleanliness of my facility. If she had boarded her dog here, I would have record of her. She has mistaken HP with another kennel.
